Reporter – Amar Singh Parihar

Noida – The tradition of swinging Shriradha Krishna is very ancient. It is a specially celebrated festival in the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya Vaishnava sect. The humidity increases a lot in the rainy season. Therefore, in order to provide beautiful cool air to the Lord, the devotees make him sit on a swing every year. Swinging the Lord destroys all the sins of a person and increases love for Lord Sri Radha Krishna. Therefore, this festival of love is celebrated with great pomp. This five-day long festival started today, Sunday, August 27, from Pavitropan Ekadashi. Devotees gather in the temple every day at 7 o’clock in the evening and take the blessings of God by swinging and God also enjoys this service of his devotees.

For this, a special Jhula has been prepared by the devotees of the temple which has been decorated with pylons, different types of flowers and other decorative items. In the evening, a swing is made by installing the deities of Sri Sri Radha Govind Dev in it. The festival will end on Thursday, August 31, the birth anniversary of Lord Balarama, Balarama Jayanti. The celebration of Balaram Jayanti will start at 6 pm in the evening. In which bhajan, kirtan, consecration of God, discourse and full prasadam will be arranged for all. The Lord will be beautifully anointed with Pancha Gavya (milk, curd, honey, ghee, fruit juices and flowers). “Varuni”, a drink made of milk, curd and honey, very dear to Balaram ji, will be offered to God and it will be distributed among all the devotees. On this occasion, a special drama will be presented staging the pastimes of Lord Balarama and Matki Phod festival will also be organized. Around 1500 people are expected to participate in the festival.
